The all new V2 Solo Sails Sailing timer has been re-designed to be lighter, yet more rugged and is completely waterproof up to a minimum of IP65 rating (Water projected by a nozzle (6.3 mm) against enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effects.)
The required countdown time is set on the twist dial, and once the power is supplied, the timer will countdown and sound the 94db pulse tone buzzer which will continue indefinitely until the reset button on the top is pressed, which will begin the countdown cycle again.
At any point the reset button can be pressed, resetting the timer back to the set countdown value.
At any point, the countdown setting can be altered, resetting the countdown to the new value.

I have been using both the original and V2 version of the Solo Sails sleep timer for the past two years.
The use of a timer has been essential for racing solo, offshore; as it is incredibly important to remain constantly aware of your surroundings. The pulse tone buzzer is extremely loud, particularly on the V2 timer, making it impossible to sleep through the alarm!
The new V2 timer is completely waterproof, an essential feature particularly for Mini 6.50 sailing where there is very little protection from the elements.
What I liked about the V2 timer is the fact that you can set the alarm for one hour – during longer offshore races such as the Transat, this gave me a specific time limit for sleeping, eating, tidying up the boat etc. without spending too long off the helm or not trimming sails.
The reset button allowed me to take a number of continuous 20 -30 minute naps; I simply had to pop up on deck between each nap, check everything was ok, and then hit the reset button before taking another snooze!
I added in a second switch to be able to turn the timer off, as it is constantly powered.
I would highly recommend both timers for both solo and shorthanded sailing, but believe they could also be useful for keeping track of watches on fully crewed boats.
