Steve Watson and Allen Spencer Smith have arrived safely in Falmouth aboard ‘Blade Runner’ which is Steve’s Dehler 37, having finally completed their long term mission of entering the 2011 AZAB race (AZores And Back).
Steve and Allen have been meaning to enter the race which is held every 4 years for the last 3 editions, and commented that it’s only taken them 16 years to get round to doing it!
On the way to the Azores, Steve and Allen started experiencing problems with the rudder bearing which was becoming looser with time. They also lost nearly all of the water in their tanks after a hose came loose. With these problems sorted, the second leg seemed to go well, and they are currently enjoying being back home with friends and familly, and no doubt a few pints at the Chainlocker!
Steve approached us at Solo Sails to build a mainsail for the event and we were more than happy to match the design to his current Genoa.
